Caleb picks Rawlf up and carries him in one arm while keeping pace with Mariko. "Yeah I think that Munchlax would have been tough. I'm kind of glad Phillip withdrew. It will be fun to fight them again though."

After a little while, the two round a corner and see a bird Pokemon of some kind swimming in a small pond. The scene if very peaceful and the Pokemon doesn't seem to have noticed the two trainers yet.

As Caleb and Mariko begin to sneak forward, Mariko trips but Caleb manages to catch her before more than a rustle in the bushes is made. The bird Pokemon looks around but doesn't seem to see the two hidden Trainers. After a moment or two it makes happy sounds and continues to splash in the water.
[You guys are close enough to use the Pokedex now and since it's outside of combat it's instantaneous]

Mariko motions for Pepper to go into the clearing and talk with the Farfetch'd so it isn't startled. Eevees are friendly pokemon, after all.
Pepper hops off Mariko's shoulder and walks proudly into the clearing. There was no sneaking or any intention to startle the Farfetch'd. It just walked on out and to the edge of the water before sitting down. It tilts its head and says in a language pokemon can understand: "Hello! What a wonderful day."

As the Eevee says hello the Farfetch'd squawks and quickly swims further into the pond.
"What do you want? Why are you here? Are you going to eat me? Don't eat me, I'm kind of stringy and don't taste good! Don't you guys usually travel in packs? Oh no, they are closing in on me right now aren't they!"
The Farfetch'd spins around trying to see the hidden Eevee pack in the trees coming after it.
"Where are you? I know you're out there! Call off your pack. Please? I don't want to get eaten. You're fur is pretty. If only I could smell better. How good is your sense of smell? It's not fair all I can do is swim."
The Farfetch'd kind of pouts for a second and looks down at the water.
"Oh! Wait, why are you here again? Are you really going to try and eat me? Because that's not very nice."

Pepper tilts her head as she listens to the babbling. The Eevee shakes her head, ears flopping. "No, I'm not going to eat you. That would be terrible. I actually wanted to become friends. I am with a pack of sorts, but don't be afraid. It is me and my trainer. She is amazing and wanted me to come talk to you so you didn't get started." Pepper pauses and scratches behind her ear with a foot. "I don't like eating things that aren't cooked. I've been a pet all my life. I would never eat you."
