Players: 1. Open Special Rules/Changes: - I will not be worrying about rolling for movements and speed, use common sense since you know how quick your pokemon can use and rp accordingly.
- Only Kanto Region pokemon will be used (the original 150)
- This is for brand new characters only.
- There will always be a posting order based on dex.
- If you are not starting with one of the basic three starter pokemon, you need a back story as to how you acquired that pokemon. Those who are starting with one of the basic three will be receiving it upon arrival to Oak's Lab.
- I won't be doing Coordinator contests (I'm not that familiar with them yet).
Introduction [/i] Upon reading this, you set out right away and arrive in Pallet town Saturday morning. Oak's lab has yet to open, but you are ready.[/ul] [/div][/div]

Min was stretched out on a bench outside Oak's lab with Koban asleep on his chest. The overcast sky gave him respite from the glaring sun, but shafts of golden light still struck out from breaks in the clouds. One of those glimmering shafts struck his anodized aluminum shoes shattering it into an array of colors gleaming off their surface. Min was absent-mindedly petting him while they waited. One hand worked its way down the meowth's body while the thumb on the other hand gently went up and down the ridges on the coin on his head. Koban had made himself comfortable in Min's loose silky robes. His forepaws gently wrapped around the broach on Min's robes while he slept. If it was not for the way he was petting Koban one would have sworn he was asleep too. He kept his eyes hidden behind mirrored lenses and did not seem to stir much on the bench. He did not want to disturb the sleeping pokemon focusing on comforting it while it slept. He remained alert, but he was not used to being out during the day. The light bothered him and he has spent much of his time tending to the dittos in the shade. But professor Oak worked days, so if he was going to respond to the letter it would have to be during the day. It was well worth it to get help from the professor. While younger children might have done this alone, it was always nice to have someone who knew what they were doing helping out. Any supplies or advice would be useful and a lead as to where to go would be beneficial as well. Everything about this worked to his advantage.
He could not help but wonder what was in store while he waited for the professor. He was not sure whether it was an all call sort of thing where he was gathering groups or if the professor was specifically looking for someone with experience breeding. He hoped that he would not disappoint him by not having the sort of pokemon needed. If it was an all call style it was likely that the particular sort of pokemon and skill set would matter less than just having warm bodies to do work. He could only imagine how busy the man was. Studying any one of them could take a lifetime studying all of them had to be even harder no matter how many assistants one had. He knew his siblings who went out to learn about them found it a daunting task. It seemed more likely that it was a mass mail sort of thing as it seemed to be a form letter rather than specific to an individual. Not that there was anything wrong with that. He was just glad to have someone helping who could find use for him in return.

The heavy door on the lab opened with a squeak. An elder man with gray hair stepped into the morning light. His face was stern as he looked up into the sky, surveying the day. With a nod, as if he approved of the weather, he stepped farther from the door. The impeccably white coat about his frame easily marked him as the Professor if one had not seen his likeness before. He walked with steady and meaningful steps towards what appeared to be a sleeping young man. "I hope you did not have to sleep there all night. I do have rooms for guests, you could have knocked. You must be Min." He spoke gently, not wanting to startle the pair too much but wanting them to wake.
"I am Professor Oak and am glad you arrived so quickly. Please come inside." He stood back and waited for the two to get up to follow.
((On your profile page, would you list a few pokemon you would like to encounter. I have some already planned, but seeing a few of your top favorites will help.))

Min gently lifted Koban off of his chest as he got up and took off his glasses saying, "I am sorry, sir. We tend to be more active at night. I am not sure why he seems to prefer the night, but my parent's persian was the same way. I assumed you would be along shortly, but I figured I would give him some time to rest until you were ready for us.""
He set Koban down beside him and straitened his clothes. With out the glasses the red color of his eyes was visible. His eyes seemed alert enough if he was sleeping he had sprung back quickly. He had figured it was polite to allow people to look at your eyes rather than keeping the glasses on while talking. They imposed a barrier between people and he was going to be going inside shorty. He had not met the professor before, but this was very much what he thought a professor would look like. He had expected glasses, but otherwise the image fit. It was a stereotype, but at least it was not that bad as far as stereotypes went. There was nothing wrong with glasses. They looked kinda cool to be honest.

"They are primarily nocturnal." The professor bent to pet the feline on the head. "They like night much more but can find the day to be pleasant if there is enough reward in it. I'll be brief so the two of you can be on your way."
He led the two into his lab towards the back. On the wall there was a map of the region and on the table was a copy. There were also a few items there as well. "I had heard of your parent's breeding program shutting down and was sad to hear it. Many of my colleagues relied on their pokemon for research. But I really need your help in particular. I have been told by one of your siblings that you worked really well with the ditto and I have a ditto problem." He stopped to stand behind the table and pointed on the map. "There is a small community of pokemon around Mnt Moon that we have been keeping an eye on. It is very interesting to see how a group of mixed kinds of pokemon interact. Unfortunately, we have begun to notice there is an imposter lurking around the group and causing drama and fights between groups of pokemon. The Clafairy are wanting to fight with the Chansey. The Jigglypuffs and Wigglytuffs are persecuted by the Lickitung twins. It is quite chaotic. One of my researchers spotted a ditto changing from a Jigglypuff to a Clafairy and causing trouble. I am hoping you can travel up there and work this out. I need to you either capture the Ditto or talk it into leaving. No one else has had success because we are not very experienced with Dittos. Would you do this for me?"

Min nodded and said, "Yeah. I can give it my best shot. I do have a question though. In getting the ditto to leave, how cautious do I need to be about interacting with the community? I mean chances are that I am not going to get close to the ditto without the others noticing. But I do not want to ruin the work of the researchers though. If I go in there and disrupt the community in trying to get the ditto to come with me, I might do more damage than the ditto ever would have. Do I need to be worried or do we expect them to bounce back to normal once there is no longer anyone interfering with the normal goings on of the group?"
His voice was soft and concerned. He knew how seriously some of his siblings took the work they did. How they bemoaned the damage done to packs they were studying when someone came in and cultivated the land or started taking members. Or worse when some intern would get too close and start interacting with the pokemon. They would ruin the very group dynamics they were there to study by becoming part of the group. He did not want to screw this up for the professor and thought it best to ask before bounding off to make friends with a ditto.
Koban for his part was less concerned. He did not know enough about Min's past to be worried. For now Min was the only company he had and the prospect of getting to meet others was nice. Neither of them had much idea what was in store for them, but they were both looking forward to it. Koban stared at the map knowing that Min had only glanced long enough to get an idea of their destination. Koban was studying the topography and while it could not read, it knew that the areas with words by them were likely more important. White its trainer focused on the impact of his actions and imagined the possibility of getting a ditto. Koban was concerned with the actual doing of the task. Nothing was going to come of anything if they got lost along the way.
